The “Real Me”

I was born in Ahmedabad, Gujarat- India in 1983. Brought up in Noida/Delhi and attended DPS, Noida where I passed out in 2001. DPS is a well known brand for education and I got a fantastic foundation there. At the age of 17, I ran a small business in telephony, which made me $2500. I had named it, ES4I: E-services for India.

Everything comes at a cost. Yes, even this money I made. This had a direct impact on my grades in the last year of school. My grades went down drastically and I had left myself with little options for various colleges. Thanks to my parents support, upon completion of my schooling from DPS, I moved to Bangalore, for my college education in 2001.

Bangalore was a different place. The city, lifestyle, freedom, responsibilities everything seemed different suddenly. During my 3rd year of engineering, as a part of a kickass team, we built a humanoid robot “AMIBO - Autonomous Mobile Intelligent roBOt”. It bought us a lot of laurels and acknowledgements by national newspapers like “Times of India” and “The deccan Herald”.

In 2005, I graduated with a B.E – Computer Science. The same year I joined an Indian listed Telecom Product Company, Subex Ltd; my first real job was of a software developer. I learnt some real basics of technology in a corporate environment.

During the weekends, I started to try out my next real business, Robonence – A Robotics venture. I was carrying forward my expertise and experience in Robotics from my college days. Initially I started out with small hobby kits, motors and then sold a custom built humanoid robot to a college in Coimbatore. This humanoid robot platform – AMIBO 2, was an enhanced version of the earlier AMIBO. This venture earned me around $2000. Things were going good, meanwhile in my professional career, I moved into a Presales consulting role in Subex which involved a lot of travel around Asia. Unfortunately I had to close this venture down due to the travel and work commitments towards Subex.

In 2008, I shifted into a new role of a Sales Engineer with an American start up company Narus Networks, which did some real future oriented work in the IP domain. I loved thier concept and technology. My very short stint with the company, about 4 months, came to an end. The entrepreneurial bug which had bit me 8 years ago, again came to life.

In 2008, June I ventured into a different field this time. With my college mate I started a small fast food outlet – Hunger Break, in Ahmedabad. This one came to a close very soon, and this time it wasn’t profitable either. Maybe technology start-ups are for me!!

Life came around, and I was back in Bangalore, Only this time with my two dogs (Gwapo & Bella), whom I met in 2008.

Currently, I work with a Chinese Multinational as a Telecom Solution Consultant. I also actively write about custom technology.
